NJ 77915 19684 (GPS 42min) Henge Diameter 30m (Pub.)
Visited Aug 1987/ July 1999 No magnetic anomalies

In its original state, the circle henge at Broomend of Critchie must have been an impressive sight, a ring of six large stones standing on the central plateau of a henge. Entrances to the henge were at the north and south, a long avenue of stones led to the south, and a second at the north led to a possible recumbent stone circle.  Unfortunately nearly all of these megalithic treasures have been destroyed, today Critchie stands overgrown, at the back of a petrol station. The henge is still visible but only two of the original circle stones remain, and they have been displaced. A Pictish symbol stone, a refugee from nearby railway building, has been transplanted onto the henge, and all that remains of the avenues are two stones some 84m to the south of the henge.
