Visited July 1998

Glantane east stands in a field 2km west of the circle, row and cairn at Knocknakilla.  This ruined ring along with two very tall pillars presents a confusing site today. The stone circle is an Irish multiple 4.5m in diameter originally consisting of 11-13 stones. Six circle stones remain erect with five forming an arc to the east, heights range from 0.5m to 1m tall. The circle is surrounded by a shallow ditch around half a metre deep and two metres wide, its outer diameter is around 10m, there are also some traces of an external bank. The two very tall pillars were erected in their present locations recently and it is unclear if these were their original positions.

Unfortunately when we visited the field was full of very boisterous bullocks, so we could not get measurements, panoramas or even a close look :o(
A ruined wedge tomb stands in the next field 100m to the north.
