Mnajdra - Temple 2

The threshold stone viewed from inside the temple.

This stone lies at the top of a flight of two steps up from the outside, it has obviously been specially selected
for the prominent crystalline vein running through it which bears a striking resemblance to a snake. Although
there are no zoomorphic carvings in the Mnajdra Temples, there are many in other Maltese Temples. Tarxien
in particular has many carved animal representations, and at Ggantija there was a large slab with an edge
 carving of a large snake.
