Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, 7, p.480-512,1868.
Although the footprint of
the cairn on the landscape is similar to its modern stance, the profile shown
here is much
rougher, with no signs of the smooth
"domical" mounds covering the two chamber areas today.
Anderson's plan compares
well with modern ones, except that the axis of the southern chamber and passage
is shown
SE-NW, instead of its true E-W orientation.
As usual, our sincere thanks to the Society for allowing use of material from its most excellent Proceedings.
