The small "niche"
formed in the front section of the chamber by the two southern segmenting
stones.
The segmenting stones are the yellowish stones either side in this photo, they
project outwards into
the chamber space (we really should have done a stereo of this shot!).
What interested us here was the curious "organic" form of the stone
(no.12) contained in the "niche".
The shape of this stone reminded us of a tree-trunk, no other stone in the
structure has a similar appearance
and we wondered if it had been specially selected. The stone is effectively
screened from view from either
the passage or the main chamber, it is only fully visible from within the
triangle of the segmenting stones.
