Of the three circles that comprise The Hurlers, the southern circle has suffered the most from the depredations of time. Originally having an estimated 26 stones, we could find only 9 remaining, and only two of these were still standing. The two standing stones face each other on a line NNE-SSW across the circle centre, many of the fallen stones are almost completely buried. As well as the sad loss of circle stones, several large holes have been dug into the circle, their resultant craters making the circle interior look like a miniature battlefield.
